This Crispy Fried Shrimp Platter recipe has been a family favorite for years. It's perfect for gatherings or just a simple dinner at home. The crispy coating on the shrimp is what sets this dish apart from others.
I remember my grandmother making this dish for special occasions, and it was always a hit. The aroma of the frying shrimp would fill the house, and everyone would gather around the table, eager to dig in.
Over the years, I've tweaked the recipe slightly to make it even more flavorful and easier to prepare. Now, it's a go-to dish that never fails to impress guests and satisfy cravings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Tartar sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
- Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Fry the shrimp in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan, for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Crispy Fried Shrimp Platter with lemon wedges and tartar sauce for dipping.
